IISER Mohali

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali (IISER Mohali) is a premier institute established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level. The IISERs are the next generation research universities in India and there are seven IISERs in different parts of India (Mohali, Pune, Kolkata, Bhopal, Trivandrum, Tirupati and Behrampur). Currently, IISER Mohali has around 1000 undergraduates and over 400 graduate students and postdocs. IISER Mohali was set up in 2007 and is now celebrating 10 years. About Mohali

Mohali is part of the TriCity area of Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula in the northern part of India (150 miles north of Delhi). Chandigarh also known as the City Beautiful is located at the foothills of the lower Himalayas. Chandigarh was designed by a French architect, Le Corbusier, and is independent India's first planned city. There are several picturesque Himalayan mountain towns near Chandigarh - Shimla, Kufri, Manali, Dalhousie, Dharamshala. The Chandigarh-Mohali region is modern, with wide boulevards and fast-flowing traffic. The Chandigarh International Airport is located in Mohali - about 8 km (5 miles) from the IISER Mohali campus. The weather in mid-October is pleasant: 30C / 86F (high) and 17C / 62F (low).
