Quantum measurement theory applies the laws of quantum mechanics jointly to the quantum system and the measuring apparatus. While an isolated quantum system evolves unitarily following the Schrödinger equation, measurement leads to collapse of the quantum state in a non-unitary stochastic manner. The workshop will cover the fundamentals of quantum measurements, decoherence, and various interpretations of the quantum measurement problem.
Quantum entanglement is intrinsically, a quantum mechanical phenomenon that lies at the heart of quantum communication and teleportation, quantum cryptography and quantum computing. The workshop will cover the fundamentals of quantum entanglement, including entanglement measures, entanglement witnesses and characterization of multipartite entanglement.
Quantum cryptography leverages quantum principles to secure information, with quantum key distribution enabling provably secure communication. The workshop covers certifying security in quantum communication and randomness expansion, focusing on quantum key distribution schemes and advances in device-independent security.
Quantum metrology and sensing exploit quantum properties like entanglement to achieve measurements with a precision and sensitivity unattainable by classical technology. The workshop will cover the fundamentals of quantum metrology as well as quantum sensing using color centers in solids and other materials.
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali (IISER Mohali) is a premier institute established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level. The IISERs are the next generation research universities in India and there are a total of seven IISERs in different parts of the country(Mohali, Pune, Kolkata, Bhopal, Trivandrum, Tirupati and Behrampur). Currently, IISER Mohali has around 1000 undergraduates and over 400 graduate students and post doctoral fellows. IISER Mohali was set up in 2007 and is soon to celebrate its twenty years. For more details, please visit the institute website IISER Mohali.
Mohali is part of the TriCity area of Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula in the northern part of India (150 miles north of Delhi). Chandigarh also known as the City Beautiful is located at the foothills of the lower Himalayas. Chandigarh was designed by a French architect, Le Corbusier, and is independent India's first planned city. There are several picturesque Himalayan mountain towns near Chandigarh - Shimla, Kufri, Manali, Dalhousie, Dharamshala. The Chandigarh-Mohali region is modern, with wide boulevards and fast-flowing traffic. The Chandigarh International Airport is located in Mohali - about 8 km (5 miles) from the IISER Mohali campus. The weather in early December is cool and crisp: 21°C / 70°F (high) and 8°C / 46°F (low). You can expect pleasant and sunny afternoons, but the evenings and early mornings will be quite chilly. Rain is unlikely, but you may experience some morning fog.
All foreign nationals traveling to India are required to possess a valid passport of their country and a valid Indian Visa issued by the Indian Embassy/Indian Consular office in their country.
Foreign nationals visiting India to attend QFTA-2025 may opt for conference/visitor/tourist visa.
You may apply online for a conference visa at the link (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/) and click on ‘Regular Visa’. After filling in your personal details on the registration form for visa, applicant need to select Type of Visa as 'CONFERENCE VISA' and the purpose as 'PARTICIPANT OF CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES'. After registration applicants can start filling the form.
Further in case of conference visa, the Indian Embassy may ask for conference clearance letters from MHA, MEA and MHRD. Recent guidelines available at the website (https://conference.mha.gov.in/events/FAQ.aspx) of MHA, Govt. of India suggest clearance letter from nodal ministry (MHRD in case of IISER Mohali) is required and responsibility of obtaining conference clearance from MHA and MEA lies with the nodal ministry. We already obtained clearance letter from MHRD, Govt. of India.
Invited speakers and selected applicants will be provided with the letters of invitation which must be submitted with the Visa Application form. Please write to us at qfta.iisermohali@gmail.com if you need any further information. Please apply for the Indian visa at least six weeks before your date of travel. Accompanying persons (not registered for the conference) can travel on a visitor/tourist visa.
